WCF’s – Groups E and F

The Czech Republic were awesome in their 3-0 demolition of the USA. An injury to target man (and goal scorer) Koller could have real consequences, but two-goal playmaker Rosicky and veteran Poborsky were excellent. Italy were almost as impressive in their 2-0 win over Ghana who, despite the BBC’s best efforts to talk them up, threatened Italian legs more often than the Italian goal. Suddenly, the second toughest group has opened up for the two best sides, who will aim to avoid Brazil in the second round by winning the group. They held off a determined Croatia side 1-0, thanks to Kaka’s wonder strike. Ronaldo was terrible for Brazil and should be replaced before the match with Australia. The Socceroos did well to overturn a deficit in the last six minutes and beat Japan 3-1. The group is definitely still open for the Croats and Aussies, but it looks like Japan are in trouble now.
