According to today’s article in The Herald, Strachan is quoted as saying he received no abuse from any Aberdeen fans. Wonder if the papers will issue an apology to the club and its fans? Former Dons manager Billy McNeill’s column springs to mind.
His, presumably ghost-written, article in one of the red-top scum rags was a real disappointment. McNeill, obviously, is a Celtic man but has always been fair towards Aberdeen, a club who helped get his managerial career on track. His team of the late seventies set the foundations for Ferguson’s success and recently, as big Zander’s adviser, was instrumental in keeping a young player at Aberdeen, where his career could develop better.
McNeill always struck me as a dignified sort which is why his comments were more annoying than those of the usual arseholes that populate the Scottish media.
